Biography

Jocelyn Ball is a 30 plus year experienced portrait artist who works in a painterly realistic style and is successful at capturing the essence of the person who she is painting. Presently she lives in Owen Sound, having moved form Toronto with her artist husband in 2022. Jocelyn works mainly in acrylic on canvas and panel, as well as watercolour on illustration board. Jocelyn is able to creatively work from patrons' photo reference, though she prefers to shoot her own when possible, to create meaningful, keepsake portrait paintings.

Past juried member of the Canadian Federation of Artists, 2 sold pieces in juried shows. Past member of the Oshawa Arts Association, and a long time member of P.R.A.C. in Durham Region, Ontario. Won awards; several honourable mentions, an award of excellence in 2000 and 2002, best of show for an airbrush portrait in a PRAC juried show, accepted into many juried exhibitions in Oshawa, Pickering, and in Stouffville. Accepted as an exhibiting artist into the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition in both 1992 and 1995. A solo exhibition of work at the OPG building in Pickering, Ontario in 2008. An interior hung mural for HMV on Dundas St, Toronto in 1995. Commissioned portrait artist from 1992 until present.
